Addition
IT ALL ADDS UP!!
Our whole school focus in numeracy is knowing (and using) addition and subtraction facts. We have found that when the children don’t know these, it slows them down in solving problems. One of the children’s targets in class will be on this area of maths and they will be carrying out activities in school to help them develop these skills.
There is a lot you can do at home to support your child too. Below are a range of websites with games to practice their addition and subtraction facts. If you click on the attachments, you’ll also find games that you can print out to play at home. Some children will progress faster than others learning their facts. It is important to choose a level where your child can be successful and have fun.

GAMES TO PRINT
Add and subtract cards: to 21- Harry Potter game: (number bonds to 10, but you could make your own more difficult cards).
- Bonds game (again, you could amend to include more difficult sums)
- Bonds game (subtraction)
- Fives to hundred beehive (complements to 100, could make harder or easier)
- Rocket race (adding to 18 – could change numbers)
- Three in a row (adding to 18)
- Number bonds pirate ship (could make own cards at any level)
- Number Island (to 10 or 12, but could change numbers to increase difficulty)
- Number Snap (very simple adding snap game)
